We recently had Apostolic Input at church with an amazing couple, Kenny & Maureen Le Roux. Even though it was a marriage centered weekend I attended and ended up leaving with so much inspiration. Yes, I am not married but one day I would love to be and so I have skills and a fresh perspective on the covenant of marriage.
I digress… back to the title of this post, seems a little weird right? Well, Kenny told us a story that really made me think!
Two frogs fell into a can of cream,
Or so I’ve heard it told;
The sides of the can were shiny & steep,
The cream was deep & cold.
“O, whats the use?” croaked Number One,
“Tis fate; no helps around.
Goodbye, my friends! Goodbye, sad world!”
And weeping still, he drowned.
But Number Two, of sterner stuff,
Dog-paddled in surprise.
The while he wiped his creamy face
And dried his creamy eyes.
“Ill swim awhile, at least,” he said-
Or so I’ve heard he said;
“It really wouldn’t help the world
If one more frog were dead.”
An hour or two he kicked & swam,
Not once he stopped to mutter,
But kicked & kicked & swam & kicked,
then hopped out…
Perseverance pays for sure… Never give up, even when the sides of life seem shiny and steep! Even when you feel deep and cold!
